Family, a Wedding, Tigers, Zip Lines and Parasails

It has been a while since my last update. Suffice it to say that it has been a busy time, but I am glad to be writing here again.

I recently took a trip back home to the Philippines for my cousin’s wedding — it was a special occasion, as she’s very dear to me. In addition, all our cousins who now work and live in different countries as well as different parts of the Philippines went home to be a part of it.

The wedding itself was beautiful, a traditional ceremony between two individuals radiating in love, witnessed by family and friends. It doesn’t get any more special than that, really.

Since everyone was home and it’s a rarity these days, we took advantage and went on a family trip a day after the festivities. We headed off to Subic (it was only a few hours drive from our home town and wouldn’t take that much of a toll on everyone having come from travel and the occasion the day before).

Fun road trip to Subic: dear cousins, everyone singing along to a especially-requested One Direction playlist, lots of junk food.

Zoobic Safari
There were two standouts to this attraction. The first one was the Tiger Safari. We boarded a small vehicle with the driver and a man whose task was to feed the tigers, and off we went. It was a very short but eventful drive — we were strolling along and the next thing we knew, the tigers were approaching us. At one point, one of them was on the roof of the vehicle. Very nerve racking.

The second was the Superman Zip Line. I have gone zip lining before, but this was a different experience because we were completely horizontal. My cousins and I were looking forward to this one and weren’t disappointed, especially after seeing the white tiger taking a dip in the water on the ground below us as we were zipping by above it.

Subic has beautiful beaches, and offers many fun activities. We decided on going parasailing, which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We were taken out to the water in a small boat, and were told that we needed to find where the direction of the wind would be most favorable. Since the wind allowed for it, we were able to go up in tandems (which made it even more fun). Being up on the air was definitely quite an experience. You could feel the wind, see the beautiful blue sky around you and the different hues of blue water below.

Family time
The best part of the trip definitely was spending time with my cousins. We were really close growing up, and distance and circumstances have now made times like these very few and far between. I am looking forward to the next time we are able to do this again. Hopefully it would be even more memorable with more beautiful places and fun adventures.

Many thanks to my cousins for some of the photos on these post.
